Decided to have low-altitude be 20,000ft.
New battery should be heavier, but even still should
Also sticky 3 hours, and 30 min intervals during flight.
Aiming for long duration.
Balloon and Payload
- 36" Qualatex, unstretched
- 23.2 gram payload
- 2.1 grams free lift
- Half-wave antenna.
Heat sealed neck.
Some pretty high-speed travel.
~1,500 miles traveled.
Cause of death unclear.
General Thoughts / Observations
Tried to launch outside in the parking lot two times, each time with cable wrapup either in itself or on the fence.
Definitely unwinding the antennas separately is a must.
Useful to tape down one end so you can anchor it and walk away.
Eventually launched from the park in high wind.
Write up better launch technique for non-box-launch, including taping down end and holding top in place with tape dispenser while attaching balloon.
